Past Simple.

How to form the Past Simple:

For regular verbs the Past Simple is formed with the subject + verb + d / ed .

Past Simple - negative:

To form the Past Simple negative use the auxilliary verb 'do' in past simple + not =  (did not / didn't) + base form of the verb.

I did not play / I didn't play.
